In the City

It didn’t hit me at first
I didn’t understand your tone
and in a room of crowded people
I am standing all alone

The tears came down like monsoons
I stood in the bitter cold
tried to escape the reality
tried not to unfold

And I wish that I was running in the city
cause at least I’d know the city’s running me
And I’d be around ordinary people
aren’t people ordinarily like me

I’m stayin’ strong for you mom
and dad I want to make you proud
and in the middle of confusion
we’re the darkest house in town

And I wish that I was running in the city
cause at least I’d know the city’s running me
And I’d be around ordinary people
aren’t people ordinarily like me

And it’s all condensed
into one big mess
and I will confess
I’m not ready- ready to accept

Already been a few weeks
It still feels like yesterday
the pain it comes every now and then
but I take it, day by day

And I wish that I was running in the city
cause at least I’d know the city’s running me
And I’d be around ordinary people
aren’t people ordinarily like me
